Some integrated LED fixtures use Edgelit technology which positions the LEDs to shine directly into a piece of optical grade acrylic known as a light guide. This light guide collects the LED output and distributes it evenly across the surface of the fixture’s diffuser, creating a uniformly illuminated surface without hot spots and shadows.
