Among the lifestyle trends converging to bring lamps to the forefront in home décor are today’s more mobile consumer and increasing awareness of both the aesthetic and functional value of well-planned lighting, notes Jeffrey Dross, Kichler’s corporate director of education and industry trends. “With more younger consumers today living in shorter-term situations, and the growing over-50 population reaching a stage when greater light is increasingly needed and appreciated, it’s easy to see why lamps are influential in shaping today’s living spaces,” Dross says. Design trends for lamps and lighting fixtures are diverging, however, with lighter finishes such as Chrome and Polished Nickel dominating in contemporary lamp styles while a cleaner, lighter Bronze finish emerges in traditional décor. Shape and finish interact to deliver striking looks and a wide variety in these new designs from Kichler. Clean, Simple Lines with Geometric Shapes Evident in Kichler’s new designs is the shift toward cleaner, simpler lines that cuts across both ends of the design spectrum including: Saratoga – The graceful, elongated oval design in warm silver is highlighted with optical crystal spheres and oval linen shades.
